Student Programs Going Strong
Dedicated to the enrichment of vet students

September 19, 2022

Our student programs continue to make an impact by empowering students through education. This summer VetCor hosted over 50 students through summer jobs or externships and helped current VetCor team members prepare for their first year of vet school. Summer job and extern students were given support, guidance, and hands-on experience providing them with skills to amplify their education while outside of the classroom.

To kick off the fall Dr. Elizabeth Hodge, DVM, DACVIM-LA, New Grad Program Manager, and Jess Bibb, School Recruitment Program Manager rolled out a two-night “Welcome to Vet School” regional panel event for students at veterinary colleges across the country. Each day, a panel of four VetCor veterinarians covered important topics on the minds of veterinary students such as how to manage imposter syndrome, and do grades matter? The panel included Dr. Jade Rathmann, Dr. Lauren Cross, Dr. Ya Rote, Dr. Erika Stafford, Dr. Connor Muse, Dr. Warburton, and Dr. Jessie Nelson. The students submitted excellent questions that paved the way for an open and honest discussion with heartfelt advice for students as they begin their journey in vet med.

Looking ahead, the student program team will host another virtual panel, this time geared towards 4th-year students. The discussion will focus on the NAVLE and planning life after graduation. If you are a student you may run into VetCor team members at career fairs and other school events near you this fall. Please stop by to learn more about being a recent grad at a VetCor practice!
