First Time Visits
Appalachian Animal Hospital gets a special visit from Eleanor

July 30, 2024

First-time visits are something special; they kick off a lifetime of trust and friendship among our teams and their patients and clients. Just because it is a pet's first visit doesn’t mean they are a youngster. Our hospitals celebrate all first-time visits whether a pet is young or old, new to a family or not.

Atrium Animal HospitalAtrium Animal Hospital - Charlotte, North Carolina
This is Maeglin, a three-year-old hognose snake in for his first visit to address some inappetence. Hognose snakes feature an unusual upturned snout, like a hog, which is used to dig burrows in loose soil and sand. Maeglin can also puff himself up to look like a cobra, or play dead if threatened. The team at Atrium Animal Hospital suggested some changes to husbandry and different dietary options.

Lambs Gap Animal HospitalLambs Gap Animal Hospital - Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania
This cutie is Freddie, a five-year-old champion 13” Beagle. Just last year Freddie was the the number one male 13” Beagle in breed points, #4 overall 13” Beagle in breed points, and 13” Best of Opposite Sex Beagle at Westminster Dog Show. After this amazing accomplishment Freddie retired, and now has a new family at Lambs Gap Animal Hospital.

Appalachian Animal HospitalAppalachian Animal Hospital - Weaverville, North Carolina
Appalachian Animal Hospital team members feel so lucky when they have new patients and their pawrents in the clinic. Dr. Sarah Botkin and Emily, Lead RVT, were feeling exceptionally excited to see Eleanor for her first visit. At just three months old and 22 pounds, Eleanor certainly knew how to pose with the board.

Medina Veterinary ClinicMedina Veterinary Clinic - Medina, Ohio
It’s official: Barkley is now a celebrity at Medina Veterinary Clinic. He was a huge hit at his first visit, well him and his favorite cow toy. He was very sleepy and lounged around with his “moo cow” as the team swooned over him. He is eight weeks old and, according to his parents, he loves life.

Highland Veterinary HospitalHighland Veterinary Hospital - Highland, Michigan
It is pretty rare to get a kitten to look at the camera when snapping a first-visit photo, but Pepper had no problem holding still for her big moment. At Highland Veterinary Hospital they had a day full of the best kittens, and just like Pepper they were all amazing. Pepper is just shy of two pounds and she loves her laser pointer.
