About the Role

We are looking to grow our wonderful Team! Rockland Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist who is dedicated and compassionate. We are a busy two-doctor practice. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and possess excellent communication skills to provide exceptional service to our clients and their pets. As the first point of contact for pet owners, you will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming environment while managing the front desk operations efficiently. Since we are a small team and work very closely together, it is important that the ideal candidate be a team player, and willing to be cross-trained for various duties throughout the hospital.

Duties

• Greet clients and their pets warmly upon arrival, ensuring a positive experience.
• Schedule appointments, manage the clinic’s calendar, and confirm upcoming visits.
• Maintain accurate patient records and update client information as needed.
• Answer phone calls promptly, addressing inquiries and providing information about services offered.
• Proficiency with typing and record keeping.
• Process payments and manage billing inquiries with attention to detail.
• Assist veterinary staff with tasks as required
• Educate pet owners on medication administration, pet care practices, and clinic policies.
• Handle emergency situations calmly and effectively, ensuring that pets receive timely attention.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the hospital.
• Assist the doctors with patient care

Experience

• Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care environment is preferred.
• Knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal physiology is highly beneficial.
• Familiarity with animal husbandry practices and pet care routines is an asset.
• Experience with medication administration or working alongside veterinary technicians is advantageous.
