About the Senior Data Governance Manager role: This person will be responsible for leading the data governance program at Vetcor Practices LLC. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to ensure the quality, integrity, and security of our data across the organization. The successful candidate will work closely with various stakeholders, including IT, legal, finance, compliance, and business units, to establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and best practices. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Data Governance Strategy: Develop and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures with a focus on technical implementation. Work closely with IT to ensure that data governance tools align with business needs.
  • Data Infrastructure & Pipelines: Build, optimize, and maintain scalable, high-quality data pipelines using SQL, Spark, and Azure Databricks. Ensure data infrastructure is easy to maintain and can handle growing data volumes.
  • Data Analysis & Debugging: Analyze large datasets both holistically and at a granular level to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement. Debug and resolve data issues efficiently.
  • Data Integrity & Quality: Monitor and improve data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across multiple sources. Implement automated data quality checks and tracking metrics.
  • Policy Development: Create, enforce, and maintain data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure the consistent and compliant use of data across the organization.
  • Data Quality Management: Establish and oversee processes to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability, including data quality metrics and monitoring.
  • Data Stewardship: Lead and coordinate data stewardship efforts, working with data owners and stewards to ensure proper data management practices are followed.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure data governance practices comply with relevant regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, and industry-specific standards. Identify and mitigate data-related risks.
  • Collaboration & Support: Partner with IT, legal, compliance, and business units to integrate governance protocols with the data infrastructure. Support business teams in data-related decision-making processes.
  • Data Lifecycle Management: Oversee the management of data throughout its lifecycle, including data classification, retention, and disposal.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Monitor and report on data governance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

 

Qualifications: 

Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent work experience is acceptable. A master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) is a plus.

Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.

Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, Spark. Strong understanding of ETL processes and data pipeline management.
  • Solid grasp of data governance frameworks, with the ability to implement governance solutions in a technical environment.
  • Strong analytical skills for assessing both high-level data patterns and intricate data sets.
  • Demonstrated experience in debugging and resolving complex data issues quickly.
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Proven experience with data quality management, data stewardship, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Familiarity with data governance tools and technologies.
  • Familiarity with Azure and Databricks.
  • Familiarity with C# and Git a plus
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to drive data-driven decision-making.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in the healthcare or veterinary industry. 
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards, such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc. 
  • Experience with cloud data management platforms.
