Tech Week 2024 Recap

Tech Week 2024 Recap
Towne South Animal Hospital Team, Shreveport, LA

October 24, 2024

It is a wrap on National Veterinary Technician Week 2024! Our TechLife collaboration circle rose to the occasion, delivering an even more impressive recognition celebration than last year. Participation from techs and others across the network exceeded expectations! We are proud to provide a space to our technicians to share knowledge and provide each other support, and to have a little fun as well. We heard some incredible stories, here are just a few that show the dedication and commitment our team members have.

Tech Week Wrap upThis is a heartwarming story about Kari Ann Peterson’s most interesting and satisfying case from Litchfield Veterinary Clinic, Litchfield, MN: "I had fostered a dog for our local shelter, who was seized due to neglect. Bruno came to me weighing only 30lbs and barely able to walk. It was a long journey for us, but we eventually got him healthy enough to where he could be adopted. He now resides in South Dakota where he is loved dearly by his "furever" family and is a permanent lap dog.”

Almost everyone can explain their “why” when it comes to veterinary medicine. Megan Breheny, from Weymouth Landing Cat Clinic & Hotel, Weymouth, MA posted her “why.” "To help those who do not have a voice of their own. Growing up we had a family cat, he went through everything it felt like. With him I learned how to medicate orally and even give insulin for his diabetes. My sister and I soon began volunteering at a feline-only shelter and from there I was hooked. This coming March will be 10 years since I began at the amazing Weymouth Landing Cat Clinic & Hotel and it was the absolute best decision I have ever made. I also made my sister come and work with me too. For the cats!"

Tech Week Wrap up 2Alyssa Kuhns from Ponemah Veterinary Hospital, Amherst, NH shared that this silly boy was her “why”: “When I first met my husband, we talked about his ADORABLE dog! His name was Charlie. Between him and my now husband, I was totally in love. As we got closer and our relationship became serious, I wanted to learn more about how to take care of Charlie. I learned basics of obedience training, working with deaf animals, and became a VA. His life taught me so much about myself as a person, caregiver, and technician. It solidified my commitment to animal advocacy and care. We lost Charlie just over 2 years ago very suddenly and I miss my Boogey Bear every day. But each day I go to work is a continuation of my promise to him - to be the best caretaker I can be.”

It’s heartening to see our technicians increasingly engaging with TechLife. As a result, the collaboration circle is expanding and offering tailored support to meet the needs of our team members.
