It has been over three years since TechLife began at Vetcor and though many things have changed in that time, the goal of this program, to support our techs, has never wavered and has only gotten stronger. TechLife brings the benefits of a large network of veterinary professionals to reality by offering learning opportunities, CE events, and in-person skills training, all with a side of fun and camaraderie.
Looking back on National Veterinary Technician Week, the TechLife group upped their contest game by running a scavenger hunt for our team members. This was an excellent way to bring a little laugh to everyone’s day and a way for the techs in our network to get to know each other a little better. Anyone who wanted to participate would simply share a photo of the item or activity that was posted. There were some sweet photos of pet snuggles and heartwarming stories behind those snuggles.
“So many selfie snuggle pictures! Every picture brings back a precious moment in time, a special bond, moments the client never sees but something I will always remember. When the job gets to be too much, this is the picture I turn to. Little Freddie (Mercury) was a feisty geriatric fellow and I loved him with all my heart. I left the clinic he was at and went to another. His owner was so kind and surprised me at my new clinic so i could celebrate (what came to be his last earthly) birthday! This picture captured that moment.” - Erica Neu, CVT, Pet Partners Animal Clinic
Another day, the scavenger hunt called for photos of techs wearing their receptionist hats.
“Being cross-trained, I tend to lend a hand to the reception staff often. Without them, we wouldn't be able to function and I'm happy that I can help them out too!” - Jennifer Aillon, Technician, Raritan Animal Hospital
Over on the Vetcor Facebook page, there were even more chances to celebrate our techs. When asked to give a shout-out to their tech teams, our hospitals didn’t disappoint.
“I couldn't dream of a better team! We laugh, we cry, we eat way too much, but most of all we love each other like family.” Danielle Lopes, Hospital Manager, Tiogue Veterinary Clinic
All fun aside, it is particularly moving to know that our technicians are engaging more and more with TechLife, and in turn, the program is growing and providing tailored support based on the needs of our team members. If you’re a Vetcor tech, don’t forget to join the Vetcor TechLife Facebook page to learn and maybe even laugh out loud from time to time.
