Reflecting on Social Health

Reflecting on Social Health
Reflect on your social well being

July 31, 2024

July is Social Wellness Month, a time to step outside of your normal routine and connect with others. Last month we shared ways to maintain your social health and it's connection to overall wellness. To maintain social health, it is essential to make a deliberate effort to think about your social life and how you are cultivating strong relationships with others. Now is a great time to take a step back and reflect on your social well being.

Here are a few questions outlined by Mindful Health Solutions to ask yourself to reflect on the work you have put into your social health:

  • What made me feel fulfilled when connecting with others?
  • What daily activities contribute to my sense of social wellbeing?
  • How does the feeling of connectedness impact my mood?
  • How does my work impact my social health?
  • What habits did I change or improve for better social wellbeing?

Once you have a clear understanding of how far you have come, consider how you can enhance your practice. Setting goals can help you get there. Mental health brand, Calm, provides guidance on goal setting such as making SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound), breaking down your goals into smaller steps, and staying motivated. Keep in mind that as life changes so should your goals. Your mental health journey is unique to you, so your goals may look different than someone else's.

We are proud of our network of hospitals and teams who cultivate a nurturing atmosphere for their staff to focus on their wellbeing. Our team members also have access to various channels to connect with each other such as VetLife, TechLife, and HMLife collaboration circles. Additionally, Vetcor provides an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that provides confidential access to counselors, allowing employees to address any social and mental health concerns they may have.

Team members are encouraged to contact the Employee Experience team at hr@vetcor.com if they need support. Additionally, Vetcor team members can reach out to their hospital or regional manager to learn more about the wellbeing benefits available through the EAP.
