Tosha is a hiring specialist working out of Philadelphia.
I grew up in Ozark, Alabama but I spent most of my adult life in Florida with occasional moves to Charleston, New York City, and Philadelphia which is where I currently live. I worked in hospitality for many years before I found my calling thanks to an advertisement at a veterinary hospital on the side of the road.
In 2002, I completed my associate's degree in veterinary technology at St. Petersburg College. I worked as a CVT in specialty medicine, including neurology and internal medicine, before I transitioned over to recruiting in 2014. I have been president of the Florida Veterinary Technician Association (FVTA) and I'm proud to be on the advisory board for my alma mater.
Advocating for this professional is important to me and I enjoy writing blogs for Dr. Andy Roark as well as lecturing at conferences about subjects like interviewing and how to attract the best candidates for your practice. Networking is my superpower and I still get goose bumps hearing a person’s story and learning about why they chose veterinary medicine or, alternately, how it chose them.
Another passion of mine is wellbeing and making sure people know how to use their voice. That's why I co-admin a Facebook group for support staff called Not One More Vet. It's aim is to prevent suicide in the veterinary space. It's important to know that we are not alone and that we have a support system available outside of our family and friends. I've always been a positive force and I want to inspire others to always choose happiness. I truly believe we are here to serve other people and I try to do that any way I can.
Outside of work, I am a HUGE Auburn football fan (War Eagle!) and I love country music. The beach and my hammock are my happy places and I have the most amazing cat, Dirty, who brings me joy every singe day. I can’t imagine life without that kind of unconditional love.
