Events are a great opportunity for our team members to expand their knowledge and learn from others in the veterinary field. It is also a wonderful chance for VetCor to share our unique mission and vision with the vet med community and learn more about how to best serve the people who take care of pets.
We recently attended VMX 2023 as a 750+ hospital network after our partnership with People, Pets & Vets. With nearly 29k attendees, the turnout at VMX surpassed previous years, which lead to a high-energy buzz throughout the event. Our team members enjoyed the seminars and workshops and were impressed by the speakers. Dr. Joleen Mihalic from Pleasant Hills Pet Hospital shared her two top presenters: Dr. Dave Nicol who spoke on Leadership Actions & Their Effect on Veterinary Practice Culture and Dr. Kate Myrna, whose focus was on ophthalmology, “She had a great summary of the basic eye meds a GP needs on hand and what can be scripted out if needed. Very practical.
Many of our team members came together for the first time in a networking event on Sunday night orchestrated by Tracy Emara, VP of Business Development. The event consisted of food, drinks, bowling, pool and great conversation. Nina Hernandez, Hospital Manager at Miramar Animal Hospital, said, “Our clinic is coming up on our first year of being a VetCor hospital and this was the first event with them. We had a blast! The event was a prime opportunity for us to meet and chat with other VetCor employees from different clinics! Our favorite part of the event was being able to mingle and connect through similar experiences and laughs! It wasn't a strict, structured event but more so a chance to 'let your hair down' and take a breath while still making new friends! Can't wait for the next one!
As an added bonus this year we invited team members to a Zoetis sponsored, VetCor exclusive presentation by Elizabeth Colleran, DVM, DABVP, from Chico Hospital for Cats. Dr. Colleran, who is a feline board-certified specialist, spoke about recognizing and treating osteoarthritis in cats. Lorie Bolger, Hospital Manager at Pershing Oaks Animal Hospital said that her key takeaways were, “to consider cat friendly exam rooms, compassionate radiology, and cage covers for felines and also to educate clients specifically on ‘signs of pain’ in felines.” This event was well attended and we look forward to continuing this educational series at future tradeshows and offering continuing education credit.
Dr. Elizabeth Hodge, New Grad Program Manager, said this about the vibe of the VetCor booth, “So fun! Like being reunited with long-lost family members. Huge shout out to the booth team for spending so much time creating a welcoming environment for current and future VetCor team members.
VMX 2023 was a success and a big milestone for VetCor as the first large event after partnering with People, Pets & Vets. We were able to show our network and the vet med community in person that we truly are better together. The event was full of educational opportunities, relationship-building, and of course fun!
