As we look back on 2025, we invited team members to share the moments that defined their year, in the field, at our service center, in veterinary schools, and across communities. Their stories highlight what makes Vetcor’s culture unique: empowered growth, resilience in the face of change, unforgettable milestones, and personal reflections grounded in care. Here’s the year, according to our team.
Reflection is a powerful way to grow. Taking time to celebrate achievements and learn from challenges strengthens the connections that make our team unique. These moments reveal resilience and innovation at the heart of the culture at Vetcor. When team members share their experiences, they inspire others, spark new ideas, and reinforce the values that guide us. Looking back gives us the clarity and confidence to move forward with purpose.
Professional growth at Vetcor means having the support and resources to pursue your goals. Angie Gearey, Chief of Staff at Animals Inc., shared how Vetcor helped her advance into leadership: “I have truly felt supported by Vetcor in my recent promotion to COS within our 5-practice group… Vetcor truly stands by their motto of ‘Life is Better Here’ in their commitment to ensuring that their employees are encouraged to pursue their professional passions and goals.”
Rob Lewis, a Regional Manager who joined in 2025, echoed that sentiment: “The genuine support I received really stands out. When I joined, I immediately felt people cared, not just about the hospitals, but about me as part of the team… Leaders here give you room to make decisions and truly support your growth.”
And for those starting their careers, Marie Stofesky, a Vetcor Student Ambassador, highlighted the value of networking and mentorship: “Working as a Vetcor ambassador is a great way to network within the veterinary field! I have had the opportunity to make numerous connections who are excited to help me navigate opportunities during school and after graduation.” Here, professional growth is more than just talk, it’s how we work.
Rob also reflected on his first months in the role: “My first months were fast! Stepping into this role tested my leadership in unexpected ways while learning a new company and position. Every challenge pushed me to grow—I’ve gained a year’s worth of experience in just three months.” From navigating new responsibilities to adapting to the pace and priorities of a new organization, Rob’s experience highlights the determination and agility that defined much of our year.
This summer, a group of Vetcor team members embarked on a journey that was both life-changing and life-saving. The team traveled to the Mara region of Tanzania to advance efforts to eliminate rabies at its source. During the 2025 Rabies Free Africa trip, they collaborated with local veterinarians and community leaders to vaccinate more than 1,200 dogs and cats.
The experience demonstrated the importance of global health, veterinary care, and community partnership, strengthening the group’s commitment to improving lives through disease prevention. Dr. Michelle Shoemaker reflected on a deeply personal moment during the Rabies Free Africa trip: “One of the most moving experiences was being welcomed to a housewarming celebration of a newly appointed Maasai village chairman… We joined in music and dancing, surrounded by pride and tradition.” She added, “Watching a child hold a photo of themselves with their dog—often the only photo they had—was pure joy… A simple gesture that became one of the most memorable parts of the trip.”
Closer to home, teamwork was celebrated in a big way at Mountainstone Veterinary Hospital. Hospital Manager Lacretia Nichols summed it up: “A team that plays together, stays together!
Our reward trip to Dollywood was our ticket to finally go after wanting this for so long.” This wasn’t just a fun getaway—it was the result of hard work and dedication to helping pets and clients. The team focused on educating pet parents, encouraging preventive care, and strengthening the hospital’s health. The Dollywood trip was a well-earned celebration of creativity, commitment, and shared success.
Dr. Gearey also shared that the sense of belonging stood out the most for her in 2025: “What makes me proud is being part of a group that feels like family… Vetcor has created a culture where this is not only possible but expected. They treat employees with respect and provide a built-in support system… Being part of Vetcor means always having someone in your corner.” Her words capture the heart of what makes our community unique; connection, partnership, and support that go beyond the workplace.
Across these stories, a few themes shine through. Adaptability has been key, as our team embraced new roles, new contexts, and learned on the fly. Collaboration stood out as we partnered across hospitals, regions, and even global communities to make a difference. Empowerment was evident in the trust placed in people to lead, teach, and grow. And finally, belonging remains at the heart of our culture, building a workplace where support is real and enduring.
As we step into 2026, we’re bringing the best of 2025 with us, every lesson, every connection, every win. What was your biggest takeaway from the year? Share your reflection with us; we’d love to hear it.
