About the Role

Ceres Veterinary Clinic is looking for an established licensed veterinary technician to add to our team of compassionate professionals who aim to provide high-quality veterinary care. 

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for the cleanliness of the clinic including treatment area, surgery, animal ward, x-ray area, break room, laundry room, and outside grounds.*

  • Performs cleaning duties including, but not limited to emptying kennels, dishes, laundry, trash, washing walls, sweeping, mopping, and cleaning light fixtures throughout the clinic.*
  • Rooms clients and patients, collects and records information about the patient, TPR, and routine procedures.*
  • Notifies Veterinarian or RVT of any patient concerns or problems immediately.*
  • Prepares all surgery packs by washing, drying, and putting in special packs to be autoclaved.*
  • Assists the doctor and technicians with restraint and treatment of animals.*
  • Stocks and rotates syringes, needles, vials, paper towels, supplies, and food, as well as refills fluids including chlorhexidine, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, and betadine throughout the clinic.*
  • Ensures all patients are supplied with food, water, clean bedding, and litter boxes as needed.* 
  • Prepares the animals to be dismissed, ensures all treatment is done including vaccines, and pain injection; if not, notifies a RVT.*
  • Records important information about the animals' food intake and excretions and notes any abnormalities.* 
  • Walks animals as needed.*
  • Provides basic care for the office pet including, food, water, litter box, and locking up at night.*
  • Assembles and presents puppy/kitten kits as needed.*
  • Makes e-collars as needed.*
  • Complies with company policies and procedures giving special attention to safety regulation.*
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the doctor, receptionist, and technicians in the smooth flow of the clinic.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Cornerstone.

Certificates and Licenses:

Radiation safety examination for unregistered assistants

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
